Yvng Error discusses the Lady In The Lake

Yvng Error (a.k.a., Mitch Young) has an exciting new single entitled “Lady In The Lake” which I was privileged enough to listen to prior to its release this coming May 13th 2021.

It’s melodic, moody and quite different than what he’s previously written and recorded. In anticipation of its pending release, Yvng and I had the following chat about it.

But before we head into our interview, you’ll be interested to know that Yvng shall be a participant in the upcoming “Manchester’s Got Talent” semi-finals which will be held on May 13th 2021 – the same day as “Lady In The Lake’s” release.

And if you’ve had a chance to listen to Yvng Error’s music on Spotify and other streaming platforms and loved what you’ve heard, you can pre-save his upcoming release “Lady In The Lake” on Spotify via this link.

What’s the name of the song and what inspired you to write it?

The single is called “Lady In The Lake”. Basically, I needed to get out of the house because I was losing my mind being cooped up inside throughout this lockdown drama.

So I went for a walk near my house to an open area of land where there’s a small lake. There were some metallic water fountain statues of a naked “ladies in the lake: (as you’ll see in the pictures that accompany this article) and they were frozen over.

I took some pictures on my phone, went back and noticed that there was a Heron perched on the body of a Lady and then the idea of writing a song from the perspective of the “Lady In The Lake” kind of just fell into place. The Lady can be seen in the single’s cover art. And here’s a little secret for everyone: the co-ordinates at the bottom of the cover art are the location where the frozen lady can be found.

What is the song’s lyrical content about?

The lyrical content is literally about the frozen statue of a Lady In The Lake and I wanted to create a personality around the Lady and the Heron that was visiting her.

“The lonely Heron that lands and smothers her face

Checking for a signal or a sign

From below the only movement is her

Bliss shadow”

The idea that the bird was coming to visit the “Lady In The Lake” and the Lady being blissfully unaware of it created a really atmospheric vibe when writing the lyrics for this song.

What was interesting was that after I had finished the lyrics for the song, I realized that there could be several meanings behind the lyrical content; but that’s for the audience to explore and interpret.

As the song progresses, it becomes more apparent that the Heron returns each day while the soul of the lifeless statue is completely “oblivious to the surroundings from the rest”

This single has a different sound than your previous releases – it’s more melodic and dark-sounding. Is your music moving into a different direction with this release?

It’s funny that you ask. To be honest, this song was a very experimental idea and it felt very organic creating it so I wanted to give the audience something that takes the listener on more of a journey where they’re able to have their own views on what the “Lady In The Lake” represents.

I’ve recently been working alongside a close friend of mine who I grew up with, Carl Alsop a.k.a., Space_Beast_Music. It’s been really fun introducing his slick guitar licks and creative guitar solos into the mix.

It was also amazing to get a helping hand from another friend who is killing it on the drums at the minute, a chap by the name Jack Francis. He’s been amazing for getting on board helping out while taking some time off from his band.

When can we expect the single to be released?

This single will be getting released towards the end of April Dates TBC

Aside from the release of Lady In The Lake, what are your plans for the rest of 2021?

Definitely Tea is fully underway and again working closely alongside SpaceBeastMusic, we’re touching up loose ends with the album and keeping it as low-key as possible at the moment.

But what I can say is that there’ll be about 9 songs that will be taking you guys on a journey from the start to finish of the album, keeping that real Brit Pop organic essence that you’ve all been waiting for.

The album is scheduled to be completed in the next couple of months and then I’ll be looking to arrange for some pre-release vinyl albums or CDs to be pressed before the album gets distributed online.

Coming up, I’ve been fortunate enough to have been invited to play and be filmed for a live performance video at the “Round Chapel” in London where the likes of Sam Smith, Liam Gallagher have played, organised by Mas Records.

Moving forward from there I’ll be playing the Old Trafford Centre in Manchester for the Live Semi finals of “Manchester’s Got Talent, Night of Dreams” on the 13thth of May in front of over 1,000 people which is extremely exciting!

Lady In The Lake

I saw her she was frozen in the shallows

Head trapped above the water

She only gets observed by her friends

The lonely Heron that lands and smothers her face

Checking for a signal or a sign

from below the only movement is her

Bliss shadow

Next to the lifeless metal glow, next to the lifeless metal glow

And I saw her and she didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I saw her and she didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I saw her and she didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I didn’t see her from the shallows

The lake blows gently across her body

The sun glistens of her chest when she’s at her best

Nightfall drops only the flicker of her eyes

Oblivious to the surroundings from the rest

A new day wakes and the Heron returns

Sat upon her shoulder awaking the demon from within

Still no emotion or devotion to the world that

We are living in

And I saw her and she didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I saw her and she didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I saw her and she didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I didn’t see her from the shallows

Checking for a signal or a sign

from below the only movement is her

Bliss shadow

Next to the lifeless metal glow, next to the lifeless metal glow

And I saw her and she didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I saw her and she didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I saw her and she didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I didn’t see her from the shallows

Time stops still in the break of the moonlight

She smiles and the Heron fly’s away saying good night

Today is over and the clocks will reset when the Heron

Returns without breaking a sweat

And I saw you and you didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I saw you and you didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I saw you and you didn’t know

She didn’t know

And I saw you frozen in the shallows

Frozen in the beastly shallows

Frozen in the beastly shallows

Frozen in the beastly shallows

Frozen in the beastly shallows
